Extension at Cambridge’s Biomedical Campus at Addenbrooke’s Hospital enables expansion of biomedical research to include clinical research that will directly benefit patients.

Combining world-class biomedical research with patient care and education on one site, this campus has been a work in progress for over a decade since its 2020 vision was first masterminded.

In partnership with Addenbrooke’s Hospital – part of the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust – this plan was formed out of a desire to create an “urban healthcare village”. A location where not only the hospital and education facilities would stand, but commercial enterprises, homes and plenty of lush outdoor spaces for people to enjoy as well.

The programme is well underway and anyone visiting the campus today would see the progress that’s been made – including easier and faster access to the hospital and campus. And still in the pipeline are a conference centre, hotel, private hospital, shops and restaurants.

The new building that the Biomedical Campus recently received was a welcome addition and provides the team with much needed space to expand the perimeters of their research. This campus is made up of a highly networked community – academics, businesses and clinicians – all of whom are committed to improving patients’ lives through extensive research and development of new products.

These facilities needed to be cutting edge. So given this requirement for a modern yet functional interior, our Quadra doors were exactly what the contractor was looking for. The Quadra system enabled all the riser doors to be concealed which has not only helped to enhance the interior aesthetics but also provides huge installation savings with the extremely simple fitting process.

With the continued development of the “urban healthcare village”, we look forward to providing the contractor with even more perfect solutions.
