Introducing Tempus Mark 2 – The Improved Temporary Fire Door

At Selo, we simplify bespoke and complex building methods and value customer feedback to innovate new products, as well as improve our existing range.

Following customer feedback on the Tempus door, a mark 2 version has been launched to improve the existing design and provide a better product for our customers.

The main objectives of Tempus Mark 2 were to create a lighter product, that is easier to reuse and transport to different sites. In addition, we also wanted to create a temporary fire door with a greater opening potential, that is still compliant and as durable as Mark 1. By providing a temporary fire door with a greater opening potential, we are making it easier for workers to work on-site.

What’s new?

One of the most common pieces of feedback we received was to create a door that was wider, to better fit structural openings. However, we know from our internal timber door brand, Modulo Doorsets, that flexibility is vital, as structural openings change at projects. This is why we created a temporary fire door that was adjustable by 10mm. This will give our customers flexibility, should their structural opening width change, and reduce the risk of change on their project, which can by costly and cause delays.

Our customers have also asked for a temporary fire door that can be installed into mixed construction, so we have delivered. Tempus has now been tested in mixed construction which has been added to the FOA.

And finally, as one of the main benefits of Tempus over other temporary fire doors is that Tempus is a reusable temporary door. This means that Tempus needs to be as durable as possible, we have made Mark 2 better protected, by adding three transport bolts to provide better protection during transport and easier installation.

New features of Tempus Mark 2:

  • Reduced vision panel size from 400 x 200mm to 200 x 200mm.
  • Wider frame to give a second row of fixings to allow for greater opening potential, from 67mm to 82mm.
  • The door width has increased from 1000mm to 1050mm with a new structural opening of 985 – 1150mm.
  • Three transport bolts to provide better protection during transport and easier installation.
  • Kickplate only on the push side of the door, making the door lighter.
  • Document holder removed, making the door lighter.
  • Sera has been moved from the frame to the door, making it much less vulnerable to damage.
  • Frame adjusters allow for 10mm of adjustment.
  • Transport bolt metal shims secured to the frame, as well as locations for the transport bolts to prevent loss on-site.
  • Mixed construction has now been added to the FOA.

These new features have been added to compliment the already available benefits of Tempus, a reusable, zero maintenance, E60 fire-rated temporary door that saves developers money.

By choosing Tempus, you will maintain compliance throughout multiple construction sites, as the Tempus door is designed to be reused.
