Tempus

The huge fire risk there is on Live Construction Sites.

It’s widely understood, accepted and proven that in a building’s lifespan, its point of highest risk of fire is its phase of construction or refurbishment. We also don’t have to be gurus in science to understand for fire to exist, there’s three fundamental elements. There’s a source of heat, it has combustible material, and there’s oxygen.

Sources of heat on construction sites, there are many. However many control measures we put in place construction fundamentally generates sources of heat. Welding, electrical works, uncontrolled waste: there are many. Combustible materials; again however much controlled, there’s many.

Timber; all sorts of materials that all combust under heat. Then oxygen, it’s everywhere around us. So, it’s unrealistic to remove one of those three elements to entirely remove the risk of fire.

So, what we have to do is control and put control measures around those three elements to ensure that they’re not combined in a high risk environment. So why am I telling you this?

While it is a risk of fire and we can control it, what we do have control over is ensuring there is a means of escape for every site operative at any point in time. And, characteristically, typically this is done using fire escape routes. These are created often, but not only, using fire doors.

This is exactly why Tempus was designed, manurfacted at Selo, to bring a product to market. To give you a compliant, easy to install, sustainable, life safety provision for your construction sites.
