At Selo we have recently taken the decision to upgrade our third-party certification to the Certifire scheme for our fire rated Modulo doorset systems.
Certifire is one of the longest running, most comprehensive third-party certification schemes in the UK and is recognised across the world. Using correctly installed Certifire certified products provides a powerful demonstration that due diligences have been served.
The Certifire scheme from Warringtonfire certification provides full third-party accreditation similar to the Q Mark scheme and other similar TPC schemes. It also has various benefits which provides improved customer experience for you as our client:
Improved visibility
- Visibility of exactly what is covered by Certifire and what is not. Each certificate has a unique number which can be accessed on the Certifire website very simply and is visible on every certified doorset. The certificates include the detail of the certified door construction and variants in a clear way.
- Each certificate covers a specific door blank based doorset to provide a more concise and rules-based document, which is easier to read and use to verify a doorset.
- Information on Selo Certifire certificates can be found here.
Door labelling (example below)
- The doorsets have an anti-tamper label with the specific certificate number on it which covers that specific door specification.
- Each Certifire door label has Selo’s contact details on it ensuring contact is kept very simple if there are any queries whilst the doorsets are being inspected.

Certisecure
- With the increased requirement for schemes to work hand in hand without conflict, Certifire and Certisecure are designed to work in tandem and meet Secure by Design requirements.
Doorset adjustments on site
- A competent fitter can make adjustments to Certifire fire doors as long as it’s within the certificate scope. You can fit alternative Certifre certificated ironmongery within the rules laid out in the Certifre certificate which adds practical and future flexibility, not possible with other schemes.
- Some popular alternative schemes place responsibility for certification after fitting solely with the responsible fitter. This includes recertification after modification of any kind, including component repair/replacement.
Project Certification
- With Certifire there is no requirement to certify the project doorsets as an installer once you have completed installation because it is covered by the Certifire scheme.
Please be assured that as an installer or customer this does not have any effect for yourself, it rather gives you an added layer of protection and confirmation that Selo doorsets are a fully tested system designed for your requirements. Whilst also managing to simplify the way compliance can be verified when compared to the other common schemes.
