At Selo, we never walk away from a problem, it’s a commitment backed-up by our core values #6 – Never Give Up and #7 – Take Ownership.
This was the case when we worked on a major commercial high-rise development in London and had to individually inspect over 3,000 riser doors…
The Problem
Selo had supplied the Quadra+ Riser Doors at the development but were contacted after installation by the main contractor with concerns about ‘light-bleed’ between door and seals when looking from riser out with the doors closed. The concern was related to whether the doors were still compliant from a smoke and acoustic rating if there is any gap.
As we always do, if a concern is raised around quality or compliance to Selo, we investigated this by reviewing our production processes, the manufacturing QA and attended site to review the issue in person.
The Solution
Upon review, we were confident the doors were made to specification and as per the tested models, but to ensure the main contractor, architect and client were completely satisfied, we committed to doing a full inspection on all Quadra+ doors supplied – over 3,000 of them! This involved obtaining access permits for each riser and key set, locking someone behind the doors to check for the ‘light bleed’ and that the seals were in suitable compression. Even though still compliant, in order to achieve full client satisfaction, we replaced any seals that were still allowing any light through.
We had a core team of three working through challenging Covid requirements for around three months, with others called in to assist as and where required.
Once the inspection, remedials and reports were completed we also reviewed it all with the main contractor to get sign-off before we left site.
Halo Assist
Whilst this came at a significant time and cost to Selo, our Halo Assist Promise means we will never walk away from a problem but take the right option every time to ensure compliance and client satisfaction are at the highest level.
We know no one is perfect, it’s how you deal with a challenge and come out on the other side that counts!
