Selo’s Year in Review
All Posts |
2017 has been a breakthrough year for Selo. The year has seen the company grow by 50%, the release of revolutionary new products, the recruitment of innovative new staff, a full office and factory relocation, and, of course, involvement in some of the UK’s most exciting construction projects. To learn more, read on for Selo’s Year in Review 2017.

New Arrivals

New product development is at the heart of the Selo ethos, and we continually strive to ensure that the products we design meet the needs of our customers, and the high standards we have set for ourselves. In order to achieve this, 2017 saw the recruitment of a whole host of innovative new staff – Meet the team.

Our NPD team was strengthened significantly in 2017 with the arrival of Martyn Kenneally as Product Development Manager. Martyn has an outstanding product development background, and his presence will ensure we continue to lead the way in our industry through innovation and simplicity of design.  Our project management team has also grown this year which has further improved our strong customer service skills.

Continuing Innovation

In August this year, Selo introduced the revolutionary Fuma, the world’s first fully concealed Automatic Opening Vent.
AOVs help to control the ventilation of smoke in the event of a fire and are operated automatically by opening actuators, windows or vents to create ventilation when a smoke detector is triggered.

Unfortunately, many AOVs are often unsightly and can detract from the overall design aesthetic of an interior. This design headache led to the inception of Fuma, a highly innovative product, which offers the same functionality as a regular AOV, but with the added capability of being fully concealed to create a perfectly seamless finish.

Pastures New

Due to our rapid growth over the course of the year, Selo took the decision to relocate both our offices and our factory to new, larger premises.

Our new offices will be located at Kents Hill Business Park: a 5,800 sq ft complex which will provide our team with room to grow, and the space to continue creating the highly innovative products for which we are known.

The Selo factory, meanwhile, which manufactures and ships our products to construction projects across the country, will be moving to the heart of the country, to Atherstone, in the Midlands. The new 15,000 sq ft premises will increase our distribution flexibility and efficiency and will ensure that we continue to deliver a first class service to our clients throughout the UK.

Prestigious Projects

Over the course of the year, Selo is proud to have collaborated on many amazing projects throughout the country. These include a large-scale redevelopment at the BBC turning the old site into luxury apartments fitting a mix of Quadra, Innova and Enigma products to create these contemporary interiors. 22 Bishopsgate was another standout project for our team as this is the largest commercial project in Europe and we used the Quadra concealed riser door system to conceal the riser doors. We also provided over 1000 doorsets to flagship apartments at the Old Vinyl Factory (Materials Store) in Hayes using the Arriva concealed framed doors.

The Showroom and Our TV Debut

The Selo showroom opened in April 2017, and we have since welcomed many of our valued friends and customers through its doors. The showroom was created to provide the best possible experience to our customers, who are now able to see our range of products in person, and fully understand how they work, and how they look when installed.

Finally, Selo was delighted to make our television debut in September, in the ITV1 series, Love your Home and Garden, hosted by Alan Titchmarsh. The show rewards deserving families with a surprise makeover and we were proud to donate our signature pocket doors to the program.
