Third-party certification provides independent product certification for performance, quality, reliability and traceability. Third-party certification is not mandatory but can be used to give confidence on a range of different products, including doorsets.
Benefits
Third-party certification provides improved visibility of exactly what is covered and what is not, to give customers confidence due diligence has been taken.
Third-party certification will also provide the manufacturers details should they need to be contacted.
Why is third-party certification important?
Third-party certification offers a higher level of insurance that doorsets meet the required performance, safety and quality. This is important for customers as it will provide them with increased confidence that the products they are purchasing will perform as expected. For architects, third-party certification is important as it simplifies specification. We conducted a survey with our architect customers and discovered that compliance was their biggest priority, even above design. Third-party certification enables confidence in compliance.
Who does third-party certification benefit?
- Passive Fire Protection – confidence in compliance and confidence when working at speed
- Architects – ease of specification
- Installers – manufacture contact details should they need them during install
- Developers – confidence in quality and compliance
Certifire and Certisecure
We added Certifire and Certisecure to our third-party schemes for our fire rated timber doorset systems.
Certifire is one of the longest running, most comprehensive third-party certification schemes in the UK and is recognised across the world. Using correctly installed Certifire certified products provides a powerful demonstration that due diligences have been served.
The Certifire scheme from Warringtonfire certification provides full third-party accreditation.
With the increased requirement for schemes to work hand in hand without conflict, Certifire and Certisecure are designed to work in tandem and meet Secure by Design requirements.
In conclusion, although third-party certification is not mandatory, it is important to give customers confidence in compliance. Through our research, compliance is the top priority for developers, architects, contractors and passive fire protection, and an independent review on performance will ease concerns.
