FumaCE is a discreet passive fire protection product used in smoke shafts used to prevent the spread of smoke in high-residential or commercial offices.

Supplied fully hung, as an integral unit with a metal door, FumaCE is a lightweight damper and simply needs to be fitted into the opening and linked to the BMS (Building Management System).

Yes, massively. As when doing the testing on a monthly basis you can power open all the units and if you can’t automatically close them, you have to go round closing each and every one which can be problematic.

FumaCE comes in two standard sizes:

  • 0.6m² geometric area, with a damper height of 925mm and width of 760mm. The required structural opening is 1058mm high by 865mm wide.
  • 1.0m² geometric area, with a damper height of 1275mm and width of 900mm. The required structural opening is 1408mm high by 1005mm wide.

No, it is recommended that ventilation shafts are kept separate to smoke extract shafts, because smoke extract is life safety, ventilation isn’t and very few products are suitable for use on both.

It has a fire rating of EI 120, meaning it provides 120 minutes of integrity and insulation. It is also classified to EN 13501-4 and has passed relevant fire resistance tests such as E (integrity), I (insulation), and S (smoke leakage) for EIS120 under EN 12101-8:2011.
